Matthew Taylor Determined to Recruit Hard Workers for New Look Walsall

Walsall boss Matthew Taylor is keen to make the most of his contact list in order to add strength to his squad.
Matthew Taylor keen to add to his squad.
As he and his team begin their second week of pre-season training, Head Coach Taylor has spoken to the press and discussed the importance of adding the right type of person to his squad.

Taylor has already added Conor Wilkinson, Joss Labadie, Manny Monthé, Jack Earing, and Brendan Kiernan so far this summer, but is keen to press the need to sign not only talented people, but those who are willing to put it all on the line for the cause.

The gaffer admitted that he will be using his extensive contact book in a bid to recruit players, including a few on loan, but is determined to sign players who can help the team and not only to add numbers, as has been the case over recent seasons.

The club signed eight loanees last season, but only a handful were able to make much of an impact, which is something the gaffer is keen to avoid this time round.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Taylor, when asked if he is looking to exploit the loan market, said: “I hope so!

"What I will say, and this goes for recruitment top to bottom, yes we want good players at this football club, but we want good people.

"We want people that we know are going to give 100 per cent for that badge on a Saturday. It’s what the fans deserve and need to see.

"It’s imperative that we get good people into the football club. They are representing the fans on a daily basis and on match days."
