Walsall's on-loan Scunthorpe United left-back Scott Laird has spoken to the local press and insisted that he and his team-mates need to stand up and be counted if they are to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Rochdale as they take on Southend United this weekend.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Scott said; "We are going to learn about of the characters in the dressing room now. Who is going to stand up and be counted because there is no hiding from that performance at Rochdale. Who is going to come to the front and keep their head up because that is what we need. But I know, 100 per cent, all the lads will react in the right way.
"They will come up and pump their chests out and give everything they can to get a positive result on Saturday. They have to because the Rochdale performance hurts. I can assure the fans, the players are hurting just as much as they are."
