Watford have today confirmed that former Walsall striker Troy Deeney has put pen-to-paper on a new five-year contract that will see him remain at the Vicarage Road club until at least 2021.

27-year-old, Birmingham born Deeney has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the summer with Barclays Premier League Champions Leicester City tabling several offers as they sought to add him to their attacking line.

Watford FC is pleased to confirm that the result of these conversations is that Troy Deeney has signed a new five-year contract at Vicarage Road.

Leicester, who defied massive odds to take the Premier League title ahead of second-placed Arsenal, had bids of around £25,000,000 rejected and, were rumoured to be preparing another offer, however today's news will no doubt bring their pursuit to an end.

Meanwhile Walsall, who sold Deeney to Watford in the summer of 2010, are due around 20-25% of any potential profit Watford might make on their initial £500,000 pay-out and will once again have to play the waiting game as Troy pledges his future to the Hornets.
