Earlier today, Walsall manager Dean Smith spoke to the national media as he continues to be linked with Rotherham United's vacant managerial position, and discussed his club's decision to reject an approach from the Sky Bet Championship side.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Dean, who later insisted that he continues to concentrate on the Saddlers, said "My club have said no. It's been rejected and for me that makes it a little bit easier because I don't have to think about things. The club has said no so that lets me get on with my job."

Smith was later asked if he would've had a decision to make if the offer had been made to him, he said; "Not really because I've not been able to make it. I've always said that I'm in a job here and that I will do it to the best of my ability unless I am told otherwise to go and speak to somebody. Until that happens I will keep going on with the job.

"I think when a club is doing well, the management, staff and players always come under the radar of clubs above. I think that's what happening. It's happening at Burton and it's happening at Walsall at the moment. It's flattering and it's a credit to the football club for how they have done things."
