Mat Sadler Appointed Assistant Coach at Lommel SK

The former Walsall boss has found himself a new job just a few months after leaving WS1.

Former Walsall head coach Mat Sadler has been named assistant coach of Belgian Pro League side Lommel SK, linking up with Head Coach Lee Johnson.

Sadler, who was sacked by the Saddlers back in March, has been linked with a variety of positions since leaving the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium but has opted for a move overseas.

Last season, the 41-year-old saw an early title challenge dissolve into what would ultimately be a mid-table finish and was subsequently replaced by Lee Grant, following a brief interim spell under Darren Byfield.

Taking charge of the Saddlers in May 2023, he led the team through 161 games, winning 67 and losing 52, statistics that firmly put him among the more successful managers in recent memory.
