Walsall have been named alongside Newport County in the race to sign St. Johnstone midfielder Sven Sprangler.As first reported by The Courier, the Saddlers and Exiles are believed to have made enquiries for 31-year-old Sprangler, as both clubs look to assemble their squads ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Born in Bruck an der Mur, Austria, Sven spent the second half of last season on loan with the Saddlers' League Two rivals County, making a total of 39 appearances for both clubs.
Despite having a year remaining on his current contract at McDiarmid Park, reports claim Saints boss Simo Valakari is willing to let him leave should the right offer arrive.
A product of several clubs' youth systems, Sven turned professional in 2015, going on to play for SV Mattersburg II as well as having spells with TSV Hartberg, SV Mattersburg, Wolfsberg AC, before joining St. Johnstone in 2023.
