Wigan Athletic 'Win the Race' to Sign Connor Barrett

The Saddlers could be in the market for a new right-back if this latest rumour is to be believed.

Walsall defender Connor Barrett is believed to be close to securing a move to Sky Bet League One outfit Wigan Athletic after the clubs reportedly came to terms on a transfer agreement.

As first reported by Pete O'Rourke, Barrett, who has a year remaining on his contract, is set to complete the move to the Brick Community Stadium side as they build their side for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.

Leicester-born Barrett, who joined the Saddlers from National League side AFC Fylde in the summer of 2024, made 38 first-team appearances last season as his team saw their early promotion push fade away.
