We are saddened to learn that former Walsall Chairman and Director Mike Lloyd has died at the age of 82.Born in Walsall, Mike spent many years on the club's board of directors, including a spell as chairman in the early 2000s, but was also well known in the world of music.
Awarded an OBE for his services to classical music in 2022, Mike was also made an honorary Doctor of Arts by Staffordshire University for his contributions in the field of music, culture, and entertainment. He was also made an honorary freeman of Stoke-on-Trent earlier this year.
In a statement on their website, Music Mania, the business Mike founded, they paid tribute to him: "Mike was not only a treasured father and friend, but also a highly respected figure within the Stoke-on-Trent community.
"His passion, humour, and unwavering dedication helped shape the very heart of this business."
