The Trust to Donate New 'Player of the Season' Award

The Walsall Football Supporters' Trust (WFST) has revealed plans to donate a brand new shield to replace the outdated Bernard Johnston Memorial Trophy, which is currently awarded to the Saddlers' Player Of The Season at the end of every campaign.
The new shield, which will be awarded at the end of the current season, will be re-named ‘The Robert Sadler Shield’ in honour of the work Bob Sadler, who has worked hard for many years in organising the award.

The Trust also confirmed that each player who wins the award going forward will receive a small replica of the shield and the previous trophy will be repaired and have last seasons Player of the Season, Andy Cook, engraved on it before being retired to the club's trophy cabinet in the 1888 Lounge at Banks's Stadium.
