Adebayo Keen to Add More Goals Following Port Vale Strike

Walsall striker Elijah Adebayo has spoken ahead of this weekend's League Two clash between the Saddlers and Macclesfield Town and admitted he is hungry for more goals after netting his third goal of the season against Port Vale last Saturday afternoon.
21-year-old Adebayo scored the only goal of the game as the Saddlers recorded their fourth away league win of the season at Vale Park, much to the chagrin of several Vale players and media members who took to social media to vent their frustration.

Elijah, a former Fulham prospect who was among a raft of players to join the club last summer, admitted he was pleased to be able to make an impact after being recalled into the starting XI and is hoping to kick on and continue improving.

Speaking via the club's official website, Elijah said; "I’m nowhere near where I need to be so it’s about putting those hours in at training everyday and trying to be the best that I can be. It will come but it’s about working hard.

"It’s been a tough couple of weeks for me. I’ve been trying to get back in, obviously the lads have been doing great as well so I was happy to get the nod and the goal has done me very well."

London-born Adebayo made his first start in four weeks on Saturday afternoon, and, despite there being plenty of competition for places in the starting line-up, is keen to force his way into the team on a more consistent basis.

Elijah continued; "That’s what you’re in the business for – competition for places. All of the strikers have been playing well in the last couple of weeks and it’s been tough to get in so when you do get your chance you’ve just got to make a statement or do the best you can so that you’re in the gaffer’s head for the next game."
