Loan Watch: Saturday, 21st December 2019

Here we take our regular look at how the Saddlers' young prospects are doing as they look to force their way into the club's first-team plans.
Darrell Clarke has opted to loan out young defenders Tom Leak and Luke Little along with the experienced Gary Liddle and striker Mitchel Candlin out as they get a shot at some much-needed first-team football.

Tom Leak's loan to BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South side Salisbury, continues with the defensive prospect due to remain in Wiltshire until Saturday, 11th January 2020.

Tom retained his place in the starting XI and played for the full ninety-minutes as the Whites played host to Poole Town in front of 668 fans at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The match itself saw three goals scored as Bay Downing (24') and eventual Man of the Match Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick (84') netted to cancel out Marvin Brooks' goal early in the second-half to secure all three points for Steve Claridge's Salisbury.

Veteran defender Gary Liddle recently joined Vanarama National League side Hartlepool United on a short-term loan as the well-travelled 33-year-old gets some first-team football with a former club.

Gary was named in the starting XI as Dave Challinor's Pools played host to Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Park. Gary would go on to mark his return to the club with a clean sheet as Mark Kitching netted the game's only goal after sevnty-even minutes of play.

Luke Little remains on loan with BetVictor Southern Premier Division Central side Tamworth but was not in action as relentless rain at Lye Meadow saw the Lambs' away league meeting with Alvechurch postponed.
