Walsall Senior Cup: Darlaston Town 0 Walsall 2

Here is our Match Report from the Saddlers' Walsall Senior Cup clash with Darlaston Town.
A Walsall XI was in action on Wednesday evening as they made their way to the Paycare Stadium where they took on Darlaston Town in the First Round of the 2025/26 Walsall Senior Cup.

Walsall's line-up was made up of academy prospects that included the trio of Stan Straw, McLloyd Oben and Paul Makavore, who all featured in Tuesday evening's Vertu Trophy clash with Chelsea Under-21s.

Despite taking on a team made up of several seasoned pro's, the young Saddlers wasted no time in opening the scoring when defender Ellis Harris put his team ahead with just two minutes on the clock.

Walsall continued to prod and probe the Darlaston defence and were soon two ahead when Paul Makavore, who had made his professional debut just twenty-four hours earlier, put the Saddlers two goals into the lead.

There were no further goals as the young Saddlers remained calm and composed to secure safe passage to the competition's Quarter Final, where they will take on Rushall Olympic at Dales Lane.
