Salford City Expected to Renew Their Interest in Walsall Striker Andy Cook

With the 2019/20 campaign edging ever closer, Walsall striker Andy Cook continues to be linked with a move away from Banks's Stadium, with a recently promoted side the latest to be named as suitors.
Cook, who is already being linked with a move to one of two previous clubs - Grimsby Town and Tranmere Rovers - is said to be among a host of players attracting the interest of newly-promoted League Two outfit, Salford City.

28-year-old Cook, who bagged eighteen goals during his debut season in the Black Country, is said to be the transfer target of the Ammies as they seek a successful debut season in the EFL.

Cook is no stranger to Salford having lined up against them in the National League and was also linked with a switch to Moor Lane last summer before ultimately penning a two-year deal with the Saddlers.

Bishop Auckland-born Cook, who joined Walsall from then-National League Play-Off winners Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2018, is also said to be on the Super Whites' transfer radar with the Prenton Park club considering a move to take him back to the Wirral following their League Two Play-Off Final win over Newport County.

Along with Rovers, BBC Humberside Sport have confirmed that Grimsby Town are interested in Cook's services but, along with Salford and Tranmere, are yet to make an official approach to either ckub or agent.

If bids are ultimately forthcoming Walsall are likely to put up a fight to retain Cook as recently appointed manager Darrell Clarke looks to steady the ship following last season's relegation to League Two.
