Pre-Season: Walsall to Play Host to Aston Villa

As Dean Keates continues to prepare for his first full season as Walsall manager, the club has confirmed that they will play host to local Sky Bet Championship side Aston Villa ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

The Saddlers, who have already confirmed fixtures against Cheltenham Town and Dutch giants Ajax, will play host to the Villans on Tuesday, 17th July, with kick-off currently scheduled for 7.45pm.

Steve Bruce’s men finished the 2017/18 campaign in fourth place but missed out on promotion back to the Premier League after losing 1-0 to Fulham in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

The Villans have been regular visitors here in pre-season and provided the opposition for the first-ever match at Bescot in August 1990. Last season’s friendly fixture between the sides ended goalless in front of over 7,000 spectators
