Walsall's on-loan Celtic defender Eoghan O'Connell, who has made two appearances since joining the Saddlers earlier this month, has spoken to the local press and discussed how quickly he has settled into life at Banks's Stadium, before going onto talk about his long-term future.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Eoghan, who scored the first goal of his career during last weekend's victory over Bristol Rovers, said; "I'm really enjoying my time here. Everyone has been great with me. The lads and the manager are very welcoming.

"I settled in very quickly. It always takes a week or two to be fully settled but the lads have made it so easy. I hadn’t played in a while when I got here so I was a bit wary. But in both games I played we thoroughly deserved the win so I’m very happy."

O’Connell, who made seven appearances for Celtic at before he joined the Saddlers, then went on to discuss his status with the Parkhead club, and revealed that he is yet to speak to Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers about a new contract, Eoghan said; “I’m not too sure what’s going to happen next season. My contract is up at the end of the season and we’ve not really spoken about it up there.

"We will speak about it when I get back from the loan. But it’s not something I’m thinking about too much. We will see what happens."
