Walsall manager Dean Smith has today conducted his usual round of meetings with the press ahead of the weekend's football action, and has revealed that he is seeking to add to his squad as he hopes to continue the Saddlers' strong start to the season.
Smith told BBC WM that he is in discussions with an as yet unnamed Barclays Premier League side about a player currently plying his trade in their Under 21s.
Smith later went on to tell Matt Maher, of the Express & Star; “I’m currently speaking to a club and hopefully moving things along there but it is involving a Premier League player, with their Under 21s and it is taking a little bit longer.
“We have a couple of trialists in at the moment. They have been with us the last five or six days and we are having a good look at them.”
