Following Tuesday evening's pre-season clash with local Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion, Walsall midfielder Reece Flanagan has spoken to the club's official website and discussed his desire to establish himself in the club's first-team.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Reece said; "It was another good test for us against a Premier League team. We played well throughout the game and created plenty of chances.

"I thought that we controlled it for large parts and had a lot of possession, so that is encouraging for us.

"Obviously we were disappointed to come away with a defeat and no goals to show for our efforts, but it was a worthwhile work-out for us.

"I was pleased with my own performance; I want to be involved and start as many games as possible. My aim is to be able to influence what we hope will be a good season for the club.

"I'm feeling great and have got a good pre-season under my belt. We're bringing a lot of talented young players through and it will stand us in good stead.

"Hopefully I can do enough to push myself into that starting line-up and stay there."
