Walsall Football Club have this afternoon revealed that the Banks's Stadium has once more been called up for International Duty having been chosen as one of the venues for August's St. George's Park Tournament, which involves the Under-17 teams of England, Italy, Portugal and Turkey.
Reported via Saddlers.co.uk, the club confirm; Under the charge of new head coach, Steve Cooper, the Young Lions will start their preparations for a new European Championship challenge with three games at venues in the Midlands with all four nations based at the national football centre in Burton.
They will take on Italy at AFC Telford United’s New Buck’s Head Stadium on Wednesday 26 August, before Banks’s Stadium plays host to England’s game with Turkey two days later.
And the Tournament’s final games take place on Sunday 30 August, with England facing Portugal at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.
Ironically, Cooper’s squad will be facing Portugal again in the First Qualifying Round of the Euros in October, as the road to next summer’s Euro Finals in Azerbaijan begins.
The two nations were drawn alongside each other, San Marino and Armenia in Group 9, with the fixtures being hosted in Portugal between 29 September and 4 October, with the top two of the four teams progressing to next year’s Elite Qualifying Round.
Tickets for all three England games in the SGP Tournament cost just £3 for adults and £1.50 for concessions from the hosting clubs.
It’s just 50p per ticket for groups of 15 and over and FA Charter Standard clubs, with the relevant forms available to download below.
The non-England games take place at St. George’s Park and are not open to the public.
