Earlier today Walsall Football Club's Under 18s side played host to Carlisle United's Under 18s in the latest Football League Youth Alliance fixture of the season.

Walsall arrived at the game in fifth position, having won eleven, drawn two, and lost five of their eighteen league games.

Neil Woods' Saddlers, who are nine points off the top of the table, defeated Port Vale 1-0 during their last outing, a late Lewis Probert goal proving enough to secure all three points.

Carlisle sit in thirteenth place in the table. Alan Moore's young Cumbrians have won five, drawn five and lost ten of their twenty league matches. They defeated Fleetwood Town by two-goal to nil their most recent outing, which took place on Tuesday evening.

Today's match, which was played at the Birmingham County Football Association's Headquarters on Ray Hall Lane in Great Barr, was a tight affair, with neither side able to score despite creating several good goalscoring opportunities.
