Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website following last night's 1-0 away win over Rochdale, a victory that saw his side progress to the Northern Area Quarter Finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Speaking to saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; “It was a really good result. I thought that we were excellent defensively and extremely well-organised.
“We knew that we were up against a good team and we came here with a different plan to last time and carried it out well, restricting them to very few chances.
“We moved the ball around well and stood up to the balls coming into our box; things are moving in the right direction; we made a few changes tonight and put some fresh legs in there.
“It was a hard-fought win against a good side and we are delighted to make progress in the competition.”
