Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League One clash with Crewe Alexandra, and has discussed midfielder Sam Mantom's recent return to training, after a lengthy spell in the treatment room.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “It’s a big step to get him on the training ground and in among the players again.
“The only thing which will be missing is match fitness – he has been doing all the work with Jon Whitney and it is just about him getting back into the swing of it.
“He has been working all the way through it. It’s just striking a ball that was a problem. Hopefully he can be in the team as soon as possible.”
