GRIGG REJECTS WALSALL IN FAVOUR OF BEES SWITCH

Walsall striker Will Grigg has signed a new two-year contract at the Banks's Stadium.
Now former Walsall striker Will Grigg has turned down a new four-year contract at the Banks's Stadium, in favour of a switch to The Saddlers League One Rivals, Brentford

The 21-year-old Northern Ireland striker had been ever-present for The Saddlers this past season, scoring 20 goals and was seen as a major part of the clubs recent return to form.

Despite being bought up by an Aston Villa supporting family, Solihull born Grigg joined Brirmingham City aged just seven, and following several years in their youth system was seen as a cert to receive a scholarship, but sadly, Will suffered a broken leg aged 15 and following a year out of the game, was released just two months after returning to the club.

After that putting that major setback behind him and regaining fitness, Will joined non-League side Stratford Town on non-contract terms and after some impressive performances was lining up a trial with West Bromwich Albion, but following contact from then Walsall Head of Youth Development Mick Halsall he joined The Saddlers on a scholarship.

After a stint with the Centre of Excellence, Will signed professional terms in 2008, and then made his club debut in December of the same year.

After several average seasons in front of goal, last season Will bagged twenty goals, and attracted the attention of several sides, including, Derby County and Aston Villa.

It is believed Will's representatives had met with Bees manager Uwe Rosler several times over the past few weeks and have finally thrashed out a three-year deal.

Will's Walsall career spanned around 120 appearances, with the striker notching almost thirty first-team goals.
