Walsall boss Lee Grant has confirmed that he has received and accepted an apology for the match official errors that cost his side all three points against Swindon Town.Playing out a one-all draw at the Nigel Eady County Ground last weekend, the Saddlers saw a goal mistakenly ruled out for offside and a clear and obvious penalty denied by referee Alex Chilowicz.
Speaking to the media shortly after Walsall's midweek win over Oldham Athletic, Grant confirmed the officials have issued an apology for both incidents, he said: "If you look at our performance at the weekend, we understood that we’d done enough to win the game.
"We scored a legitimate goal, we should’ve had a penalty. On that, I’ve had that clarified fully. There was no denying any of those facts. There was a huge apology from the officials on that.
"We accept that and we know that we want to turn every game and every opportunity into three points and maximum return. When the opportunity isn’t there to do that, then try not to get beat.
"We’re OK with that and it’s significant that we managed to take that step forward tonight."
