Aden Flint Signs for Rochdale

The veteran defender has found himself a new club after leaving WS1 in the summer.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsFormer Walsall defender Aden Flint has signed for the Saddlers' League Two rivals Rochdale, on an initial short-term contract.

Joining the Saddlers from Mansfield Town in the summer of 2025, Aden made a total of forty-eight first-team appearances, scoring two goals, before being released at the end of the campaign.

A veteran of the game with over 600 professional appearances, Flint began his career in the Central Midlands Football League with Pinxton, entering many impressive performances, earning a move to Alfreton Town in the summer of 2008.

Making almost 100 appearances and enjoying a loan spell with Matlock Town, Aden's next move saw him turn professional as he joined Swindon Town in January 2011, penning a two-and-a-half year deal.

Ultimately returning to Alfreton on loan for the rest of the 2020/11 campaign, Aden would go on to make 79 appearances for Swindon before upping sticks once again as Bristol City paid £300,000 for his services in June 2013.

Five seasons and almost 250 appearances would follow as he became a stalwart at the back for the Robins, even winning the Player of the Season award in 2015/16.

Aden was soon on the move once again as Middlesbrough looked to add to their back line, paying £7,000,000, handing the defender a four-year contract in the process.

Making forty-two appearances for the Boro, Aden didn't play out the full term of his deal as he was sold to Cardiff City just a year later, the Bluebirds giving him a three-year contract.

A further 93 more games, plus a handful more during a brief loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday, would follow as he once again made himself a regular starter, adding to his already impressive tally of appearances in the beautiful game.

Going on to join Stoke City, he featured just nine times before enjoying a one-year stay at Mansfield Town ahead of his season-long switch to the Saddlers.

Best of luck, Flinty!
