Walsall look to have suffered a double injury blow just over a week
before their 2026/27 season gets underway as both Rico Browne and James
Connolly were forced off during the Saddlers' pre-season defeat to Luton
Town.As reported on the club's official website. there was a pause in play early in the first half as Browne received treatment and 'after consulting with the medical team' was replaced by youngster Ellis Harris.
To make matters worse, James Connolly, who had come on as a substitute at the break, 'appeared to find some discomfort' and was ultimately replaced by Sam Oliver as the medical team sought to provide treatment on the sidelines.
Walsall begin their new campaign next Thursday as they travel to Ashton Gate and take on Bristol City in Round One of the Carabao Cup ahead of their League To season-opening clash with Gillingham just over a week later.
The status of both Rico and James is currently unknown but we expect the club to provide an update one the duo have been further assessed when they return to the Black Country.
