Former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ryan Leak is understood to be on trial with Walsall as head coach Lee Grant considers his transfer options ahead of the new campaign.Identified by supporters during the Saddlers' pre-season stalemate with Leamington, Leak, who also lists Burgos, Burton Albion, Salford City, and Ross County among his former employers, has been a free agent for over a year after leaving Ross County in June 2025.
Playing for half of the first forty-five, before being replaced by Ellis Harris, 28-year-old Leak suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon whilst at Ross County but is understood to be ready to find a new club after receiving the all-clear.
Walsall are known to be in the market for several new players as Grant seeks to build a squad strong enough to deal with the rigours of a lengthy league and cup campaign.
