Pre-Season: Oueen of the South U19s 1 Walsall U18s 2

The young Saddlers continued their 2026/27 pre-season campaign with a trip to Scotland.
Walsall Under-18s were back in pre-season action on Thursday evening when, as part of their visit to Scotland, they took on Queen of the South Under-19s at Palmerston Park in Dumfries.

Originally scheduled to take on Motherwell U19s, the young Saddlers were looking to add more match minutes as they prepare for the new season that will see them compete in the EFL Youth Alliance along with various senior cup competitions.

WALSALL U18s
Fraser Hamilton-Wright; Zion Tuitt, Levi Wain, Sam Oliver, Finn Batham, Jude Worrall, Jaden Kandemiri, Ryan Sjoerdsma, Lincoln Hunt, Ethan Khan, Younusa Kanyi
Substitutes: Riley Clowes-Elson; Ellis Harris, Bobby Clarke, Archie Doyle, Vas Vreto, Sonny Partridge, Samuel Griffiths, Olly Nash

It was the young Saddlers who would go on to grab the opening goal of the game when midfielder Ethan Khan struck the ball into the back of the net just before the midway point of the first-half.

Leading into the break, the Saddlers were dragged back on to level terms early in the second forty-five, goalkeeper Riley Clowes-Elson, who had replaced Fraser Hamilton-Wright between the sticks, unable to deny the hosts a goal.

Walsall refused to let their hosts' goal get them down and were soon back in the lead when first-year scholar Younusa Kanyi, who is a creative attacking midfielder, scored from a well-placed free-kick.

As is tradition during the pre-season campaign, the second half was peppered with substitutions as the managers look to add some minutes to as many players as they can with a busy season ahead.

A win on the road for the young Saddlers, who now prepare for a clash with Kilmarnock Under-19s at the weekend.
