Walsall boss Lee Grant has insisted he is still not close to finalising his squad ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 League Two campaign.The Saddlers added the services of Declan Skura, who joined on a season-long loan from Wycombe Wanderers, and former free agent Ryan Leak to their backline on a busy Tuesday afternoon.
Interviewed after seeing his side defeated 5-0 by Aston Villa at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium later in the evening, Grant insisted he's still looking to add to his options.
Speaking to Express & Star reporter George Bennett, Grant said: "We’re still not there and we’re still not close.
"Again, if you just look at the numbers in terms of what has gone out compared to what has come in. We’re not there yet.
"The most important thing for us is bringing in players that can impact the group, impact the quality and have a real claim for being in the starting eleven.
"We don’t want to bring bodies in for the sake of it. We want to bring good quality players in that can help us this year and that’s what we’re looking to do."
