Walsall have confirmed the signing of Sutton United attacking midfielder Lewis Simper, who arrives in WS1 on a two-year deal that will begin when his Sutton contract expires at the end of the month.A product of the Cambridge United academy system, 24-year-old Simper turned professional with his hometown club in January 2020 and went on to make his first-team debut the following September during an EFL Trophy match against Fulham U21s.
Making a total of 27 appearances for the U's, Lewis also enjoyed loan spells with St Neots Town, Concord Rangers, and Yeovil Town before making a permanent move to Sutton United in June 2024.
Going on to make over 100 first-team appearances for the Amber and Chocolates, Lewis was named amongst a handful of players who would not be remaining at the club following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
Saddlers Head Coach Lee Grant welcomed Lewis to the club, insisting he is looking forward to seeing him in a Walsall shirt. Lee said: "I’m really pleased to have Lewis join us.
"He’s an exciting player who certainly knows where the goal is and that’s been shown during his time at Sutton United.
"He’s got bags of energy, gives everything for the team, and I’m really looking forward to helping him progress even further because he’s hungry to kick on and achieve great things.
