Sam Hornby Signs for Hednesford Town

The Saddlers will be in the market for a goalkeeper, as their second choice has agreed a move elsewhere.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall have confirmed that goalkeeper Sam Hornby will depart the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium and join National League North side Hednesford Town on a free transfer.

31-year-old Hornby arrived in WS1 in the summer of 2024 after leaving Colchester United and went on to make twenty-two first-team appearances in all competitions across two seasons, his most recent outing coming against Fleetwood Town in March.

Birmingham-born Hornby began his career in non-league football with Hednesford Town and Redditch United before turning pro at Burton Albion in 2015.

Enjoying loan spells with Brackley Town and Kidderminster Harriers, Sam left the Brewers for Port Vale in the summer of 2017, and, along with a loan spell at Chester, went on to make just fifteen appearances for Vale before he was back on the move, this time signing for Bradford City.

Managing thirty-two appearances for the Bantams, Hornby was once again loaned out, adding AFC Fylde and Colchester United to his growing list of clubs.

His loan with Colchester was made permanent in the summer of 2022 and he went on to manage another twenty-two first-team appearances for the JobServe Community Stadium side before leaving on a free ahead of his switch to WS1.
