Former Walsall loanee Daniel Cox has wasted little time in finding a new club as he has joined National League side Southend United on a two-year deal.Cox, a Wales Under-21 International, joined the Saddlers on a season-long loan in the summer of 2025 but made just seven first-team appearances before being recalled by his parent club Derby County the following January.
A brief switch to Wealdstone was followed up by a more successful loan to Solihull Moors before Cox returned to the Rams at the end of the season ahead of his release earlier this month.
Signing a contract that includes an option for a further year, Cox admitted he was excited to join Keiron Dyer's side; he said: "It’s really nice to sign for the Club.
"It’s such a big club, so when I first heard of the interest, I was really excited, and now I just can’t wait to get going.
He has a real interest in developing young players like myself, so that’s something that really drew me into joining the Club."
