Bring a Pound to the Ground in Aid of Smile for Joel

Fans are being urged to bring a pound to the ground on Saturday afternoon, as a very special guest will be in attendance.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsThis weekend’s Sky Bet League Two clash between the Saddlers and Harrogate Town at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium will be extra special as we'll be joined by representatives of SmileForJoel.

SmileForJoel, one of Walsall FC's official charity partners for the 2025/26 season, is a charity close to everyone's hearts and was set up by Suzanne and Owen Richards following the passing of family members and loyal Saddlers fans Adrian, Patrick, and Joel, who were tragically killed in the 2015 Tunisian terror attacks.

SmileForJoel helps families who are victims of traumatic bereavement with a range of support, including time-out for families, special counselling and financial assistance to help pay for gift experiences for families who are financially impacted by their loss. The charity has gone from strength to strength since its inception and has built a positive platform to help raise awareness and extend their vital support to families across the UK affected by homicide with strength, compassion and hope.

To show your support, the Club is encouraging all supporters in attendance this weekend to bring a pound to the ground and to dig deep where possible, donating to a worthy cause. There will be bucket collectors around the ground throughout the day for you to do so, and their team will be on-site to speak to and offer support to those who need it most. They will also have card readers to hand for those who don’t have cash on them but would still like to make a donation.

You can also make a donation online via their official website as well as via text. To donate, simply text SMILEFORJOEL to 70085 to donate £5. Your donations are greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference in helping the charity continue their fantastic work across the country.
