Walsall's 2025/26 Sky Bet League Two campaign continues on Tuesday evening when they make their way to the Peninsula Stadium and take on Salford City.MATCH INFORMATION
Originally scheduled for Saturday, 14th February, the fixture was moved as the Ammies were due to take on Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup.
NEWS & VIEWS
Walsall's dismal spell of form continued last weekend as they let slip a narrow one-goal lead on the way to defeat to Play-Off rivals Notts County.
Going into the match on the back of a midweek loss to Fleetwood Town, the Saddlers could ill afford another defeat if they were to close the gap on the top seven.
However, after opening the scoring via Aaron Pressley's sixth goal of the season, they went on to concede two goals in the second half, adding to a run that has seen them win just one of their last ten.
Coming up against another Play-Off rival in midweek, this time in the shape of Salford City, Walsall are once again faced with a must-win game.
Defeat the Ammies, and they'll once again be within a win of a place in the Play-Offs, but lose, and they will very much be on the outside looking in.
Having entered the season fresh on the back of a disappointing collapse that saw them trade a clear top-of-the-table lead for an ultimately futile place in the Play-Offs, fans would be forgiven for thinking the team would be determined to avoid a repeat performance, and, whilst this season is shaping up to end differently, you'd never have guessed they could have done even worse.
Winning just three of their last sixteen league games, the wheels have well and truly fallen off, and a defeat to another promotion rival may well see the board forced into another rebuild. Only time will tell.
THE OPPOSITION
After losing four games in a row, the Ammies have won two of their last three league games and will reach their midweek clash with the Saddlers on the back of a 2-0 triumph over Barnet.
Goals from Rosaire Longelo and Matt Butcher saw them move back into the Play-Off places, giving them something to build upon when they take on the stuttering Saddlers.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Walsall and Salford City have met on thirteen previous occasions, and it's all-square in terms of head-to-head with six wins each. (1 draw)
The first meeting took place at Banks's Stadium on Saturday, 5th October 2019, and saw the visitors ease to victory by three-goal-to-nil as Luke Armstrong, Jake Jervis, and Ibou Touray all hit the back of the net.
THE LAST TIME WE MET
The most recent meeting took place at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, and saw the Saddlers win by a-goal-to-nil.
The Saddlers went into the lead with around thirteen minutes of the first-half remaining, when summer signing Harrison Burke was afforded far too much room to head the ball home from a corner.
MATCH OFFICIALS
The EFL has confirmed that Martin Woods will take charge of the match, with Wayne Grunnill and Andrew Ellis being named as assistant referees. Ollie Yates has been selected as Fourth Official.
