"A Fair Result": Darren Byfield Reacts to Walsall's Draw with Colchester United

Here's how the gaffer saw the Saddlers' clash with Colchester United.
Interim Walsall boss Darren Byfield admitted he was disappointed to take just a point from his team's trip to the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Taking on Colchester United, the Saddlers were looking to make it four games without defeat as they continue to improve following the recent departure of head coach Mat Sadler.

Taking the lead via Harrison Burke's second goal of the season nineteen minutes into the second-half, the Saddlers were dragged back onto level terms by Harry Anderson's header just four minutes later.

Speaking to the assembled media, Byfield said: "The fans can see that we’re trying to win the game. It was two good teams, to be honest, and I think a draw was a fair result.

"They keep the ball really well, and I thought for the first twenty-five minutes they were the team keeping it, but I also felt like they weren’t hurting us with their possession.

"So we kind of controlled their possession, but I still back us to put our mark on the game and have a go at them, but we slowly got into the game, and then we were very good in the whole of the second half.

"I’m disappointed we didn’t get the three points, but it’s better than nothing."
