Walsall FC's Board of Directors have issued a statement, acknowledging that recent results and performances have left much to be desired.Sitting atop the SKy Bet League Two table for much of the season, the Saddlers have seen their form disappear over recent weeks, with the team sitting in the lower reaches of the Play-Offs.
Winning none of their last five league games, Mat Sadler's men have a weekend without a game and will next be in action on Wednesday as they take on Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.
Issued via the club's official website, the statement reads: Following our recent downturn in results and performance levels, the Board have met numerous times this week to discuss the challenges we currently face.
After an excellent start to the season, we absolutely acknowledge that in recent weeks we have not met the elevated standards we have set for ourselves. Notably, we also understand the urgency to improve the situation.
Everyone at the club has been working diligently to use this week as an opportunity to reflect and reset ahead of the rest of the season.
The team, staff and Board are all collectively chomping at the bit for the Grimsby Town game to come around, which gives us the opportunity to get back on track and attack the final third of the season both positively and aggressively.
Co-Chair Ben Boycott will be in Walsall next week to be with the Board, players/staff and wider club, as we work to overcome this situation and ensure that we take advantage of the opportunity we have in front of us.
We will film a detailed update on Tuesday, which will be released ahead of the Grimsby Town fixture, providing more insight from the Board.
We truly appreciate and thank you for your continued support.
