Match Preview: Milton Keynes Dons (H)

Here we look ahead to Monday's meeting between the Saddlers and MK Dons.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall will be back in Sky Bet League Two action on Monday evening as they take on the in-form Milton Keynes Dons in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

NEWS & VIEWS

Walsall have gone six games without a win, having seen their early-season form disappear in favour of some truly dismal displays.

Lacking composure in attack and concentration in defence, the team currently sit in the lower end of the top half of League Two and have no one but themselves to blame.

As the last few weeks have gone by, the squad have failed to show anywhere near enough desire to bring their winless run to an end, at least, that was the case until their midweek meeting with Grimsby Town.

After going eleven days without a competitive outing, the team defied the form guide to take a point from a Mariners side that had now gone ten games without defeat.

Taking the lead with a Priestley Farquharson goal in the first half, the Saddlers, who were reduced to ten men when Myles Roberts left his area to take down an attacker, went on to concede twice as Andy Cook continued to haunt one of his former sides.

Determined to fight, the team went on to level the scores as Aaron Pressley scored just his fifth goal of the season, the former Stevenage man putting in a good performance in the mud at Blundell Park.

Of course, the midweek draw is now in the background, and attention turns to the visiting MK Dons, a team that hasn't lost in eight league games but will reach the Black Country on the back of a goalless draw with Crawley Town.

With the Dons looking to continue their push to return to League One at the first time of asking, and Mat Sadler's men hoping to secure what would be their first win in seven, the match should be tense. Here's hoping the team can get back to winning ways!

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been thirty competitive meetings between Walsall and MK Dons, and it's the Stadium MK side that holds a small head-to-head advantage, having won eleven times compared to the Saddlers' nine, with the remaining ten games finishing all square.

The first meeting between the two was a League 1 clash that took place at the National Hockey Stadium on Saturday, 30th October 2004, and saw the spoils shared as Darren Wrack's thirteenth-minute opener was cancelled out by Malvin Kamara thirteen minutes later.

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The most recent meeting between Walsall and MK Dons took place at Stadium MK on Saturday, 30th August 2025, and saw the Saddlers win by a goal to nil.

Mat Sadler's men went into the lead with seven-minutes of the second-half played when midfielder Charlie Lakin opened his account for the season with a low effort under former Saddlers stopper Craig MacGillivray.
