Veteran striker Kemar Roofe has issued a brief statement confirming that he won't be returning to play for Walsall FC.33-year-old Walsall-born Roofe joined his hometown club on a short-term contract back in November but, after making just four first-team appearances, was sidelined with a groin issue.
After undergoing scans and subsequently receiving treatment, Roofe's contract expired, and it seems he and the club couldn't come to terms on a new agreement.
The news comes a few weeks after, under pressure, Walsall boss Mat Sadler confirmed he was planning to hold talks with the striker with a view to deciding his immediate future.
Sadler, who hasn't seen his side win in any of their last seven league games, is short of goals, with Daniel Kanu scoring eleven more goals than his nearest rival; however, Roofe will not be the man to at least try and ease the burden on Kanu.
Issued via his official Instagram account, Kemar said: "The Saddlers it’s been a pleasure being part of this club even though it has been very short. Hope you all the success and promotion."
