Walsall's 2025/26 League Two campaign continued on Saturday afternoon as they visited the SMH Group Stadium and took on Chesterfield.
The opening goal of the game went the way of the Spireites when former Saddler Will Grigg got on the end of a Tom Pearce cross. His first effort on goal was saved, but he remained alert to the rebound and put the ball in the back of the net.
Chesterfield were soon two ahead when Dilan Markanday took advantage of Evan Weir's lapse in concentration to take the ball off the defender before breaking towards goal and lashing the ball home.
Walsall grabbed a goal back just before half-time when Daniel Kanu got his name on the scoresheet with a powerful header from Connor Barrett's well-placed cross.
The Saddlers would go on to level the scores with fifteen minutes of the second-half played when substitute Albert Adomah rolled back the years as he guided the ball home following an Evan Weir free-kick.
