Match Preview: v Bromley (H)

Here we look ahead to the Saddlers' League Two meeting with the Ravens.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall's 2025/26 League Two campaign continues this weekend when they welcome Bromley to the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.

MATCH INFORMATION

Taking place at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, the match will kick-off at 3.00pm on Saturday, 29th November, with team news confirmed at 1.45pm.

NEWS

After entering one of their poorest performances of the season on the way to a 2-0 defeat to Colchester United, the Saddlers thankfully returned to winning ways last weekend.

Taking on a Harrogate Town side that was winless in six, goals from Daniel Kanu and Priestley Farquharson, who was making his first start in fifteen months, saw the team take all three points at the Exercise Stadium.

TEAM NEWS

Walsall received a welcome boost in midweek, as it was confirmed that striker Aaron Pressley's hamstring injury isn't as bad as was initially feared, although he will miss the match with the Ravens.

Jamie Jellis will miss out with an abdominal injury, whilst Mason Hancock, Harry Williams, and Elicha Ahui remain sidelined through various long-term issues. Harrison Burke continues to build fitness ahead of a return to action.

THE OPPOSITION

Opponents Bromley are enjoying a superb spell of form, having won four times in as many games, and will be looking to continue that spell when they visit WS1 this weekend.

The Ravens' most recent outing, a meeting with Salford City, saw them overcome the Ammies by two-goals-to-nil as Omar Sowunmi and William Hondermarck scored in the opening forty-five.

A win for Bromley, and no more than a draw from Swindon Town, would see them rise to the top of the table, something that will no doubt serve as more than enough motivation on Saturday afternoon.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been just two competitive meetings between the Saddlers and Ravens, and neither side has been able to build a Head-to_head advantage, as both ties ended all-square with two goals apiece.

The first meeting, a Sky Bet League Two clash, took place in front of 4,424 fans at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Tuesday, 26th November 2024.

The opening goal of the game arrived with around five minutes of the first half remaining and went the way of the Saddlers when Liam Gordon showed some neat close control as he ran the length of the Bromley half to slot the ball into the back of the net.

Bromley levelled the scores with an hour on the clock as Michael Cheek, who had been a constant threat throughout the game, capped off an attacking move by putting the ball beyond Tommy Simkin and into the back of the net.

The visitors went into the lead with thirteen minutes of normal time remaining, as on-loan Crystal Palace man Danny Imray opened his account for the campaign with a shot from a very tight angle.

Walsall restored parity late in second-half stoppage time as, despite the officials giving the goal to David Okagbue, we think Jamie Jellis got the last touch at the end of a goal-mouth scramble to see the ball go over the line.

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The most recent meeting took place at the Ravens' Hayes Lane stadium on Thursday, 13th March 2025, and ended all square at two-all.

Bromley opened the scoring with just seven minutes on the clock as Walsall saw a free-kick cleared before the home side broke down the other end where Ben Thompson netted his fifth league goal of the campaign.

The Saddlers levelled the scores in the early stages of first-half stoppage time as substitute Levi Amantchi, who replaced an injured Ellis Harrison, controlled an Oisin McEntee throw in before turning and slamming the ball into the back of the net.

The home side re-took the lead eleven minutes into the second-half as substitute Harry McKirdy, who came on at the break, sent a shot looping over the 'keeper and into the back of the net.

Walsall levelled the scores with twenty minutes of the game remaining as Jamille Matt, who was making his 400th career appearance, scored for the twelfth time in the 2024/25 campaign.

MATCH OFFICIALS

The EFL confirmed that experienced official Michael Barlow will take charge of the match with Alex Gray and Marc Wilson being named as assistant referees, whilst Anthony Moore has been selected as Fourth Official.
