Andy McGregor Named Walsall's New Head of Recruitment

The Saddlers have secured the services of an experienced scout as their new Head of Recruitment.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall have confirmed the appointment of Andy McGregor, who arrives at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium as the club's new Head of Recruitment.

Andy will provide strategic direction, oversight and play a role in the club’s recruitment strategy, scouting network and identification of emerging talent from Academy to the Men’s First Team.

McGregor has an extensive background in football having previously worked for a number of clubs including Norwich City, Preston North End, Plymouth Argyle, Rangers and was most recently Lead Scout for Swansea City.

Speaking via the club's official website, McGregor welcomed the opportunity to join the team, he said: "I’m excited to get going.

"It’s a great set up here at the club, and I’ve known about it for a while now and the people within the club, so I’m excited to get started.

"There’s been some really good conversations with Ben and Mat and from the off you can tell that this is an ambitious club – we want to move forward and progress and that matches my ambitions so the decision to come here was a no-brainer.

"The key thing for me is collaboration, working together and having a clear strategy – that’s something that’s been with me in my previous roles and if everyone is all pulling in the same direction it makes the whole process seamless.

"I’ll be working closely with Mat, Ben, Matt Jordan and the club as a whole to get the best results for the club.

"We’ll be looking at all eventualities and covering all bases and I’m just really excited to get stuck in now."

Welcome to the Saddlers family Andy!
