Walsall boss Mat Sadler sought to praise his team following their narrow pre-season defeat to Derby County on Tuesday evening.
Going into the game without suffering a single defeat in their pre-season campaign, the Saddlers opened the scoring via summer signing Vincent Harper in the first-hand.
Fellow recent arrival Jonny Stuttle added a second to give the Saddlers a one-goal lead at the break, but the visitors bagged two in the second forty-five and emerged victorious by three-goals-to-two.
Sadler said: "I thought it was a really good game, a really enjoyable game as well.
"I stood there for long periods of that game and really enjoyed what we were doing.
"I thought there was real quality in our decision-making with our press, of how we won the ball back, how to play and some really good performances in that physical battle. Aaron was a real threat.
"Him and Jonny were fantastic up front and they're starting to show a little bit of that partnership together which is pleasing.
"The distances were really good, we looked connected, we looked really organised against a good team. I have to be really pleased with that performance."
