Walsall to Sign Birmingham City Midfielder Ryan Stirk

The club has added some fresh legs to the midfield as Mat Sadler's squad rebuild begins.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall have confirmed the signing of former Birmingham City midfielder Ryan Stirk, who will make the move to Poundland Bescot Stadium when his Blues contract expires at the end of the month.

22-year-old Birmingham-born Stirk, is a product of his hometown club's academy system, having joined them as an apprentice in 2010, and went on to make his first-team debut against Cardiff City in May 2021.

Along with making many appearances for Birmingham's various age groups, Ryan also enjoyed loan spells away from St Andrew's, at both Mansfield Town and Bromley, with the former Welsh youth international making a total of fifty-four appearances.

Following the news of Ryan's arrival, Head Coach Mat Sadler spoke of his delight at getting the deal done, speaking via the club's official website, Mat said; "I’m really pleased to get Ryan over the line.

"He’s someone that I’ve known for quite a considerable time through my connections at Birmingham.

"He was somebody in previous times that I would have liked to have brought to the football club but I’m really chuffed it’s come together for me to get him now.

"Ryan is the type of player who wants to pass forward, play through the lines, he wants to receive the football and he wants to get on the ball.

"He’s also a tenacious dog in the way that he works in trying to recover the ball and receive the ball back.

"He adds a little bit of something different with that left foot and balance in the midfield area to complement what we already have in the building and I want to reiterate – we’re really pleased with what we currently have in the building.

"We are over the line or close on a number of other targets and we are pleased with the overall progress."
