Following the news that he'd been recalled form his loan spell at Poundland Bescot Stadium, defender Liam Bennett has issued a statement, thanking all at the club for their support during his time in WS1.

Liam, who made twenty-five first-team appearances since joining in on a season-long loan in the summer, has been called back by Cambridge United boss Mark Bonner, with the U's likely to add Liam to their first-team plans following a stellar spell in Walsall.

Speaking via his official Twitter feed, Liam said; "To everybody associated with Walsall FC, Where do I begin...

"What a journey it has been! I have enjoyed every single second of my team at this brilliant football club I could not have asked for a better loan experience.

"From day one I have felt so comfortable which has helped me so much with my performances on the pitch, so thank you!

"Firstly I would like to thank the board, the chairman and the management staff, You made me welcome, you believed in me and You gave me an opportunity to show what I can do and to most importantly improve as a player, I leave having learnt so much as a footballer and as a person, so thank you!

"Secondly, the players, Since I joined in the summer every single one them has been a pleasure to be around and get to know, my first loan in professional football and it couldn't of been with a better group of lads, I've learned so much from all of them in my time here!

"The fans, Your support and love has been overwhelming every time I stepped out on that pitch I knew we had your backing both home and away! I appreciate every bit of support you have gave me!

"My time ends here at this football club but this journey and experience will hold me in good stead moving forward and will be something I look back on my time with pride, I wish you all the very best for the future, stick together and continue that promotion push you deserve it! Thank you."
