Brendan Kiernan was named among the starting XI as Grimsby Town played host to Tranmere Rovers in League Two on Saturday afternoon.

Being one of just a handful of League Two matches to avoid falling victim to a frozen pitch, the game started brightly as Brendan bagged his fourth goal of the season as he received the ball off John McAtee before slotting home.

The Mariners' second goal arrived in the second forty-five as Niall Maher, who had been linked with the Saddlers during the summer, helped his side to their first win in six, despite Jake Burton's effort later in the game.

Meanwhile, Sam Perry wasn't involved as Yeovil Town and Scunthorpe United played out a goalless draw at Huish Park, whilst Games involving Joe Foulkes (v Blyth Spartans), Dan Baldwin and Marvellous Onabirekhanlen (v Shifnal Town) were called off due to frozen pitches.
