Looking to earn just their third league win of the season, Michael Flynn's struggling Saddlers made the trip to Edgeley Park and took on Stockport County and hoped to avoid yet another damaging defeat.
Walsall struggled to create anything in the way of a shot on goal for the first half of the opening forty-five and were rightfully punished as Paddy Madden opened the scoring for the hosts, the forward afforded far too much room to complete an attacking move.
The Saddlers looked a shell of the side which put four past Hartlepool on the opening day, but, despite this, they were ultimately able to get a goal of their own as Andy Williams bagged his first goal in a Saddlers shirt to rescue a point.
