Matthew Taylor Provides an Update as Rory Holden Undergoes an 'Exploratory Procedure'

The Saddlers gaffer is hoping to have Rory available for selection sooner rather than later.

Walsall Head Coach Matthew Taylor has spoken to the local press and offered an update on the status of attacking-midfielder Rory Holden, who continued to battle against long-term injury.

Taylor had already confirmed that Holden, who has made just a handful of first-team appearances in 2021, was to see a specialist as he and the club looks for a solution to his long-term knee issues.

And the former Bristol City man has now undergone an exploratory procedure which may signal the end of his current issues, as Taylor expects him to be available for selection after working his way back to fitness.

Speaking to the Express & Star's Walsall correspondent Joe Edwards, Taylor said; "He’s had an exploratory procedure.

"They’ve found out what the issue is, so that’s been fixed. Now, he’s got a period to make sure he can get back fit as soon as possible.

"In terms of a time frame, I know it’s not going to be long-term, but it definitely won’t be short-term. The best I can give is mid-term."
