Pre-Match Views

Walsall will be back in action on Friday afternoon as they play host to Harrogate Town with head coach Brian Dutton seemingly needing a win to retain his position at the helm.

Securing just one win from their last eighteen league outings, the Saddlers have been heading in a downward direction for many months and will need to undergo a major summer overhaul to avoid another season of turmoil.

With just nine games remaining in the campaign the time has come for the players and various coaches to stand up and be counted. No longer can the team's recent form be greeted with post-match claims of improved performances and safety being closer to being secured.

Reaching the other side of the Easter weekend without at least one win will surely result in a change in the dugout and, whilst we will always call for stability, this can surely be the only option,

The Last Time We Met

There has only been one competitive meeting between the Saddlers and Harrogate Town, with the match taking place at Doncaster Rovers' Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, 19th September 2020.

The match saw four goals scored but the spoils shared as Rory Holden's fourth-minute opener was cancelled out by Aaron Martin after thirty-two minutes before his teammate Jack Muldoon put his side ahead three minutes before half-time.

Walsall went on to level the scores nine-minutes from time via Josh Gordon's post-penalty miss strike before now former Saddler Danny Guthrie saw red for a late challenge having already picked up a booking earlier in the match.

Man in the Middle

The EFL has confirmed that Will Finnie, who is based in Bedfordshire will be the man in the middle, whilst Christopher Husband and Geoffrey Russell have been named as assistant referees. Oliver Bickle will act as Fourth Official.
