Aston Villa Women to Play 2020/21 Home Games at Walsall's Banks's Stadium

During an interview on talkSPORT2 on Monday afternoon it was confirmed that Aston Villa Women will be playing their home 2020/21 Women's Super League games at Walsall's Banks's Stadium.
Villa, who were recently crowned winners of the Women's Championship had been playing their home games at Boldmere St. Michaels' Church Road ground but have now agreed terms with the Saddlers to kick-off their Super League campaign in WS1.

Eni Aluko has just exclusively told us on talkSPORT2 that newly promoted Aston Villa Women will be playing their Barclays FA Women's Super League matches at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium for the 2020/21 season.

After the season was ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The FA recently announced that Gemma Davies’ team had been awarded the title and a place in the Women’s Super League for the 2020/21 season.

Villa were unbeaten when the season was halted, winning thirteen and drawing one of their league fixtures as they sat six points clear at the top of the table, with a basic points-per-game formula used to determine the final outcome with sporting merit determining promotion and relegation.

Talking to Faye Carruthers on talkSPORT2, Villa's Sporting Director Eni Aluko confirmed plans to move to the Banks's with both clubs likely to make a more formal announcement in the not-too-distant future.

The income generated from the yet-to-be announced deal will no-doubt serve as a small boost to the club as chairman Leigh Pomlett continues to guide us through the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Walsall-born Pomlett, a former Blue Coat School pupil, recently went as far as to ask fans money-making suggestions in a bid top generate some much-needed cash as he, and his fellow League Two chairmen, continue to await a formal vote to end the 2019/20 campaign.
