Leigh Pomlett: "Let's Not Lose the Faith"

Walsall Chairman Leigh Pomlett has spoken to club journalists and addressed supporters ahead of Saturday afternoon's Sky Bet League Two clash between the Saddlers and title-chasing Crewe Alexandra.
Leigh, who has sought to connect with club supporters as much as possible since taking over from former chairman Jeff Bonser, covered several topics including the Saddlers' recent defeats and inexperienced squad before paying tribute to Jordan Sinnott, son of former Saddler, Lee.

Speaking via the club's official website, Leigh said; "As we rebuild the squad after relegation there was always going to be bumps in road and it was never going to be easy. Having done well recently, the last two performances have been poor particularly the Morecambe game.

"Darrell has expressed his views of that performance and I will not add to his comments. Nevertheless, I am always keen that we keep things in perspective and there is much going well but it must translate into first team performance which has been too inconsistent.

"The squad is young and largely inexperienced but much to work with and a squad that really cares about the club. I know this as I visit the changing rooms at the end of games and am often at the training ground.

"Whilst our football club is important to us, I am reminded from time to time that events outside of football matter much more. The deeply sad death of Jordan Sinnott, son of Lee Sinnott whom the older supporters will recall was an excellent player for WFC. The thoughts of the club are with Lee and his family.

"Lets not lose the faith though I freely accept the last two performances have tested the patience of our supporters. We must though keep it all in perspective as we embark on our journey back into League One."
