Leigh Pomlett: "Thanks For Sticking With Us"

Walsall Chairman Leigh Pomlett has spoken ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League Two clash with Cambridge United and addressed several subjects including the Saddlers' midweek EFL Trophy triumph over Forest Green Rovers, the recent spell of form and more.
Pomlett, who has attempted to connect with supporters much more than his predecessor, confirmed that the clash with United will see the club show their support for 'Kick It Out' along with welcoming representatives of the Walsall Society for the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind to Banks's Stadium.

Leigh said; Tomorrow's game marks our £5 ticket offer so hopefully there will be a bumper crowd at the Banks’s and it is great to be writing having finally ended the losing streak.

To be still in the FA Cup and through to the last 32 of the Leasing.com Trophy represents a good week. The FA Cup replay has been chosen for live television coverage which is also very good news.

The key though is the league performance which we return to today. I, like the rest of the team, are determined to get our league form back on track and hope the outstanding performance against Forest Green Rovers gives us a spring board to crack on.

I have stressed since the beginning of the season the importance of WFC in the community and today as a reflection of this we have designated today’s match in support of Kick It Out.

The players of both teams will be warming up in Kick It Out t-shirts before today’s match and the Captains will be wearing a Kick It Out branded armband.

Additionally, we welcome Walsall Society for the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind who do wonderful work supporting our local community living with sight loss and visual impairments.

We also welcome Walsall FC DSA (Disabled Supporters Association) and representatives from local Clubs’ DSAs who are all working to improve the matchday experiences of disabled supporters of their Clubs.

At half-time, representatives of these organisations will be joining us in the St Francis Group Stand for a photograph to show our unification against discrimination of all kinds in football.

Walsall Society for the Blind, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Walsall FC DSA will be in the Stadium Suite before today’s match. Supporters are encouraged to have a chat with them and find out about the work they are doing and how you can get involved with any of these organisations.

As a football club and a community, Walsall FC offers its support to the Kick It Out campaign and would like to emphasise that discrimination of any kind is not welcome here at Banks’s Stadium.

If you do feel uncomfortable at any point during your visit to Banks’s Stadium, please contact a Steward.

Finally, thanks for sticking with us through this tough period. Really get behind the team today as the league is critical and the next two games at home are very important indeed."
